Healthy Lifestyles Sessions: Let's Eat! & Let's Move!

Let's Eat! and Let's Move! sessions fulfill the nutrition education component of the WIC program and are regularly taught by WIC nutritionists at each center. Let's Eat! sessions encourage healthy eating through cooking demonstrations, ideas for inexpensive, nutritious meals, and ways to maintain a healthy diet for you and your child. Let's Move! sessions focus on physical activity and provide great ways for the whole family to maintain a healthy lifestyle!

AstoriaBF Celebration

Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program

The Peer Counselor team at Neighborhood WIC consists of multi-cultural and multilingual women who strongly support and promote breastfeeding. These mothers also breastfed their children and are now poised to help other women and their babies understand the benefits of breastfeeding. WIC Staff and Peer Counselors work together to provide a network of support and encouragement to all prenatal and breastfeeding women and identify the participants' motivations in order to have informed and sensitive interactions.

PCNA

Participant-Centered Nutrition Assessment (PCNA)

When participants enter a Neighborhood WIC center, they discover that it's all about them! PCNA provides a setting where staff collaborates with participants to help manage and improve their health and wellness.

Kids Eat Right Campaign

Neighborhood WIC continues to participate in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' (AND) Kids Eat Right Campaign (part of the White House's national childhood obesity initiative). At Neighborhood WIC, we make it our priority to help the families we serve make informed food choices and develop sound eating and physical activity habits. We participate in this dynamic initiative at each of our nine centers where our staff shares this timely food and nutrition information with our WIC families.
